Spacecraft Structures at Blue Origin

I was a aerospace structures intern at Blue Origin during the summer of 2011. Blue Origin is a private space company based in Kent, Washington. I greatly enjoyed working with Blue Origin and participating in the development of new space vehicles during this new chapter in commercial space exploration. Because of my non-disclosure agreement, I can only share my resume entry that was approved by Blue Origin.

-Formulated and executed an impact damage test procedure for composite sandwich panels

-Designed and built compression test fixtures and drop tower impact components

-Evaluated damage using destructive (compression after impact tests) and non-destructed evaluation methods (high speed video, physical measurements, and ultrasound)

-Established operating procedures and best practices for a ADMET mechanical test frame

-Assessed the implementation of ultrasound, laser shearography, and thermography for structural evaluation of a reusable space vehicle.
